Verdict: After One Month

It has been a full month since I started going to the gym.

The first week, I went about 4 times. The second week, I clocked about 5 times I think. The third week, I got the flu and was at home most of the time. I wanted to go to the gym but AB1 advised against it as exercising when you are sick can make you sicker. The fourth week, 3 times.

So how has it been for me?

I like how pumped up I feel after a workout. I like how fresh I feel and I am not feeling as lethargic as I did. It all sounds so cliched, I know but it's the truth. I have more energy, I feel healthier. After working up a sweat, I feel so much fresher.

The last 2 years, I don't have dreamless sleep anymore. Apparently you dream every night. It is only whether you recall your dreams the next morning. If you had a good sleep, then chances are you will not recall your dreams. Only when the sleep quality is low, do you remember your dreams. Even after 8 hours of sleep, sometimes I do not feel rested. For the last month, I'm glad to say that I am better rested on fewer hours of sleep. And I don't remember my dreams the next morning (most of the time at least). I take it as a sign that I sleep better now.

Do I feel happier? I can't tell. Exercise stimulates endorphin production and endorphins makes you feel oh-so-good. I cannot see a marked difference in the way I feel. However after each gym session, I feel happy that I enjoyed my exercise very much. That's definitely something good.

Another thing which I enjoy very much about exercising is this is another activity which I get to do with Roland. We both love good food, we love watching TV (though we hardly have time for it these days, we usually catch up on our shows during weekend getaways like this), we enjoy movies (sometimes different genres), we love travelling (which we hope to do more, alas our next trip to Jakarta has been cancelled). We have our own hobbies which the other does not like, him with his anime and me and reading. So, going to the gym is another activity which we both share and love and we get to spend time together. Killing two birds.

So what's my verdict about exercising and gymming?

Noice. I loike. :D

(Ask me in another 6 months time. I'm praying hard that I will still give you the same answers).
